30 weeks!!

How far along: 30 weeks! Single digits for sure now!

Maternity clothes: Anything loose and comfy is a must.

Stretch marks: No new ones. The old ones have gotten a tad bit darker though.

Sleep: Just a lot of tossing and turning.

Best moment this week: Taylor and I went out to dinner and the BYU basketball game for Taylor’s birthday. We had sushi (I caved) and it was delicious!

Worst moment this week: I've still been feeling kinda cruddy sick still.

Movement:  He never stops moving I feel like! And I love it.

Food cravings: Anything and everything. Ha. Bread especially. In any of its forms.

Aversions: No, but I still won't eat yogurt.

Queasy/Sick: Not other than the recent sickness I've been trying to get over.

Other Symptoms: Heartburn, especially if I don't take my zantac at the right time. Uncomfortable-ness.

Gender: BOY!

Labor signs: Nope!

Belly button - in or out? The top part has popped out and will look more popped out if I've eaten a bigger meal haha.

What I miss: Can't think of anything really! Maybe more energy??

What I am looking forward to: And my best friends are throwing me a little baby shower/party next month! (Fun fact: I've never ever had a baby shower! Tucker was born the day I was supposed to have my one and only shower, so I'm so excited about this!)

Milestones:  We are for certain in the single digits for weeks until he is here! So excited about that!

Other mentionables-
Baby is at (most likely over now) 4 pounds!

He is as big as a cabbage.

Almost 16 inches long.
Baby can see!

He gets the hiccups multiple times a day. I can tell he is still head down from how I feel him hiccuping so low every day.

Moved all the furniture into his room and just have to decorate and get a crib mattress!

We STILL haven't decided on a name- it will probably take us the entire time to decide.

04 January 2016

Tuck is 18 months old!

It's time for the quarterly update on our Tucker boy!

I know I say it every single time, but I seriously cannot believe how much time has passed and how he is changing right before my eyes! He's a whole year and a half and that means we are closer to adding our second little boy to our family!

At 18 months, Tucker:

Weighs about 27.7 pounds is about 35.75 inches tall!
(can you even believe this baby of ours was born five weeks early?!)

He sleeps at least 12 hours every night (sometimes more) and has recently (within the last month) made the transition to one, 2-3 (a couple 4!!) hour nap. We try and have our bedtime routine started around 8 and have him in bed before 9, but we often don't meet this goal. This is probably why he sleeps till at least 9 every morning! Gotta get on that and refine our schedule a bit.

He has been walking since about 14 months and a few weeks after that, has been running everywhere.

Within the last couple weeks or so, he has figured out that he can climb onto our dining chairs and then onto the dining room table! Not my favorite. And he knows he isn't supposed to, so we try and keep a stern eye on him anytime he is in the kitchen.

He is a pretty picky eater. He definitely has his "favorites" of things but I got so frustrated at him not eating things and dictating the menu that I tried implementing a new philosophy that I read about of "You don't have to eat it." So whatever I give him, he can eat it or he cannot! I leave it up to him and let him know whenever that's the plan.
He will usually have some toast and fruit and sometimes yogurt (depending on how much I am feeling up to giving him a bath afterwards) for breakfast. This kid loves bread and fruit. I swear 80% of his diet are these two foods. Lunch is usually a modge-podge of whatever I can come up with. Sometimes I'll cook something and sometimes we have what we call a "snacky" lunch. For dinner we just give him whatever we are eating. A lot of times he will refuse the main part, but he usually gets enough with the addition of side dishes.
His favorite foods are: bread, grapes, cuties (little oranges), raisins, crackers, bananas, turkey pepperonis, mac n' cheese, apples (he will just take bites right out of the apple!), yogurt, goldfish crackers, carrots (mainly cooked but he likes eating them raw as well), cottage cheese, homemade pizza, craisins and pretty much any other dried fruit, green beans, french fries, and of course, fruit snacks.
He loves drinking from his camel back water bottle (and momma and daddy's as well) and drinking from straws. We give him mainly water, but if we happen to have juice I give him a extremely diluted version in his sippy. I think he mainly likes the color and the slight change in flavor.
He is still getting bottles, but we have cut out most of them in the hopes of having him "weaned" by the end of the year. He only gets one, very small bottle in the morning- lately I have only been giving him this if he didn't have much of a breakfast, and he also gets a bottle before bed. This bottle will probably be the harder of the two to cut out. I'm sure he will be fine and will probably exceed my expectations, because he normally does. But I am so weak for his little voice saying "baba" every night after he gets out of the bath- he just knows that's what has always come next!

He knows the following words: mama, mommy, dada, daddy, nana, shay shay, zachy, tess, jess, luke, Alli, grandpa, grandma, curtis, "nane" (Jane), Jesus, sock, socky, shoe, please, walk, go, up, wee, yucky, peekaboo, stinky, ew, yummy, noodle, book, toe, tickle, baba, brush, wash, tummy, knuckles, duck, dog, rock, juice, cracker, cookie, chocolate, apple, push, ball, bagel, glasses, buckle, hat, dear, show, baby, puppy, sassy, naughty, santa, ho ho ho, all done, wow, oh yay, no way, no no no, don't, oh gosh....probably some more I'm forgetting.

He knows what the dog says, what the duck says, what's in mommy's belly (baby), what santa says, what the cow says...(we're working on sounds- he has a harder time connecting the words with the sounds at this point), how to sign "all done", how to fold his arms and "pray" (we've been praying as a family at night before putting him in bed for a while now. He will kneel down if you ask him and can fold his arms. He was really good at being quiet the first few weeks but now he has a hard time sitting still so the prayer usually lasts like a minute or less. He will occasionally stop throughout the day and fold his arms and bow his head and start quietly mumbling and then look up and smile and giggle. Love his sweet soul.)

He knows where to find: face, nose, ears, eyes, hair, head, mouth, tongue, teeth, tummy, leg, fingers, hands, arms, toes, foot, cheeks, bum, belly button and we're working on: elbow, heart, knee

He follows commands pretty well. I have realized he understands more than he can communicate (obviously). If you ask him to do something, he normally will- or knows how. (i.e.- "Can you bring me that book?", "Where are your pajamas?", "Let's find a toy.", "Grab my hand.", "Let's walk down the stairs.", "Wash your tray (tummy, hands, face, etc).", "Go tickle daddy!", "Can you pick that up for me?", "Take this to daddy!", "Go show daddy what you have!", "Can I see what you have?"....and more obviously. But it's nice to know that he at least understand a big portion of what we talk about.

He loves: going to the park and going down the slides and swinging (whenever he sees the park he will say, "Oh wow!" and says "Weeeee!" before even going down the slide), running free anywhere he is given the chance (whether it is outside in our backyard, an open field, the grocery store, mall, etc- he loves to run and run away fast!), books (he will say "Book!" and point to his book shelves every single morning when I go and get him out of his crib. I always put a book in his bed at nap time and sometimes catch a glimpse of him "reading" on the monitor when he is laying quietly in there), he loves hiding (he will crawl up the stairs when we aren't looking and disappear and become quiet. i will go upstairs to find where he has gone and he will often be behind the rocker in his room, in his closet, my closet or tay's closet- and he will wait till i say "Where did Tucker go?" to pop out and squeal), being thrown in the air or onto the love sac or jumping off things into the love sac (tay's fave, mine not-so-much fave), sparkly things and things he is generally not supposed to play with (i.e. Christmas tree- hence why there are no ornaments on it this year.), dancing and music, playing the piano, any and every kitchen utensil, hiding things, climbing on the couch and chairs, pillows or any kind of softie, his buddy Luke and having play dates, tickling anyone, and many many more things!

He is learning how and will attempt: putting on his shoes, getting dressed (he helps us so much more), using fork or spoon, being gentle, to color.

He can: clap his hands, wave hi and bye, give high fives, do fist bumps or as he/we call(s) them "nookles" give kisses and hugs, give baby brother (momma's belly) kisses, dance, play peekaboo, open baggies, close doors, comb his hair, walk down the stairs (terrifying!), brush his teeth.

I never want to forget the fun, happy boy that Tucker is. This stage is definitely challenging at times, but is also so, so fun. He is so sweet and will give me loves and kisses if I ask but is also full of fire and excitement- which sometimes results in injuries (mine or his). He wakes up so happy every morning and laughs the majority of the day. He is such a fun boy and he has truly made our lives so much more exciting. I am excited (and anxious) to add another baby (BOY!) to the mix and am really curious to see how he does, but I have no doubt that these two babes will become the best of buds and we can't wait!

We love you, Tucker bud!

-My computer hasn't been working, so I do all the uploads to my blog on my phone. And so all my pictures are from my phone- and not the best. Hopefully we can figure out the computer situation and I might be getting a newer phone that takes better pictures- hooray! Until then, here are a few of the cute pictures we've gotten in the last while.-

29 weeks!

How far along: 29 weeks!

Maternity clothes: Yes, but not all the time. As you can see in the picture above, that is definitely not a maternity shirt. But if I'm going out of the house I am usually wearing one.

Stretch marks: I feel pretty confident saying no. Moisturizing has definitely helped and I don't think I am growing quite as fast as with Tucker.

Sleep: It has still been pretty rough. Lots of getting up to use the bathroom and I've been sick and had trouble breathing and swallowing without phlegm (ew gross sorry) so that hasn't helped.

Best moment this week: We went to the family cabin for new year's eve with Tay’s family and that was a lot of fun! Taylor got in a lot of snowboarding and some sking and Tucker got to sled and I got to rest (a little;) so everyone was happy!

Worst moment this week: Tucker and I getting sick again. So many times this winter!

Movement:  He's a wild wild baby! I find it so entertaining getting to see all the movements and Taylor has been able to feel a lot as well.

Food cravings: Baked potatoes. Rhodes rolls. French fries. So clearly no carbs ;) But also salad and vegetables too so there is a tiny bit of balance.

Aversions: No big ones lately.

Queasy/Sick: Just with the cold/cough Tuck passed on but it's pretty much passed.

Other Symptoms: Heartburn. Sore back. Tired. Frequent trips to the bathroom. Dry skin.

Gender: BOY!

Labor signs: Nope!

Belly button - in or out? The top is popped out almost completely!

What I miss: Sleep.

What I am looking forward to: This baby getting here!

Milestones: Reached the final trimester last week!

I had three different appointments today (not including Tucker’s well check) and so it was a busy day! My MFM (Maternal Fetal Medicine) appointment went great! All my vitals were where they wanted to see them and the perinatologist was so optimistic that I'll carry the full 39 weeks. She kept saying how great I was doing and how awesome everything looked, which makes me feel good, of course. Baby is head down and already about 4 pounds! Which is a couple weeks ahead of where I am but he is proportionally perfect- with a big head, too. ;) So they are not really worried about that.

My endocrinologist appointment was quick and good as well. My A1C went up only .1 and sits at 6.3 now. My goal is to make sure it doesn't get above 6.5 this pregnancy.

And my OB appointment was routine as usual. They just were saying things right along side with what MFM had to say, so there was not much surprise there. In three weeks starting at 32 weeks I will start my twice weekly NST (non stress tests). So it's about to get really busy. These next 10 weeks are going to fly!

28 December 2015

7 months pregnant!

How far along28 weeks!

Maternity clothes: Yes! I got a few new things for Christmas that I'm excited about.

Stretch marks: I don't think so. And I got some Palmer's butter lotion for my tummy so maybe that will help a little as well.

Sleep: It was pretty rough this past week. We did a lot of traveling and Tuck got sick this past week and had trouble sleeping. He would wake up crying a few times a night- we never needed to go in to get him because he ended up putting himself back to sleep but I am such a light sleeper that I was awake as soon as I heard him and until after he fell asleep. So I'm tired. Ha.

Best moment this week: Christmas! I love Christmas. Spending time with family and carrying out traditions is always so fun. Thus year Tucker actually got to participate more in Christmas and that was really fun. Santa brought him a little toy car that he's obsessed with. It's like the old red and yellow little tikes one that you can ride in- but since it's new its a little fancier. He loves to get in and out and be pushed and steer the wheel and honk the horn. He also got some fun gifts from taylors parents and my parents. We got so many nice things and I really felt spoiled at the end of the day. And I loved giving Taylor lots of gifts! I got him a bunch of little things and he didn't know what anything was! I love the surprise :)

Worst moment this week: Our little bud got sick again. He has a little cough and is really stuffed up and congested. I am thinking of taking him to the doctor today to hopefully figure out what is up. We are headed back to the family cabin thus week so I'm hoping he isn't really sick or we might have trouble taking him!

Movement:  I can't get enough of the jabs and rolls. But lately they've been almost a little painful! He kicks so hard in my ribs and it catches me a little off guard! I never had any painful ones with Tuck so this has been really different.

Food cravings: Bread. Cheese and crackers. Cottage cheese. Hot chocolate. Veggies.

Aversions: No big ones lately.

Queasy/Sick: Per usual, Tuck had gotten me sick as well so I've had a bit of a sore throat the last few days and occasional headaches.

Other Symptoms: Heartburn. Headaches. Braxton Hicks contractions. Exhaustion. Sore back and groin muscle.

Gender: BOY!

Labor signs: Nope!

Belly button - in or out? The top has flattened out and I'm sure the bottom will catch up before this is over!

What I miss: Warmer weather! And a not sick baby.

What I am looking forward to: I have three appointments next Monday and am anxious to see how everything is going. Hopefully well!

Milestones: Baby's first Christmas!

14 December 2015

26 AND 27 weeks!

How far along26 weeks!
(No picture this week!)

Maternity clothes: Every day!

Stretch marks: Not completely sure, but I still am leaning towards no new ones!

Sleep: Still pretty uncomfortable. But I take a Benedryl at night usually because I have been so congested and it helps with that and makes me drowsy. Which I don't mind! Still plenty of tossing and turning though.

Best moment this week: It was a pretty normal week, nothing too exciting. We had our ward Christmas party on Saturday and on Sunday my girlfriends and I took some silly "Christmas present themed" pictures. I'm so glad I still have such good friends that have stuck with me even since getting married and having a baby :) They really are the best.

Worst moment this week: Our poor babe woke up on Monday morning so sick! He had a fever and had thrown up sometime in the night or morning- and we didn't know! I felt so so bad. He was cuddly and quiet all day- something he usually isn't. I had a doctor appointment that day too and so my mom watched him for part of the day. Luckily he was feeling a lot better by the evening and after getting some pedialite in him. He's a good as ever now!

Movement:  I love this crazy moving baby. I swear he's doing gymnastics in there. Feels quite a bit different than what I remember with Tuck.

Food cravings: Hot chocolate  I've been craving a cup of it for breakfast. I have the sugar free version so it's not as bad for me. Ha. Except when I add some whole milk or half and half to it ;)

Aversions: Yogurt. Bananas.

Queasy/Sick: Feeling pretty good! No complaints here.

Other Symptoms: Heartburn- but the Zantac is helping so much! Dry skin like you wouldn't believe.

Gender: BOY!

Labor signs: Nope!

Belly button - in or out? Getting pretty flat!

What I miss: Non-freezing temps.

What I am looking forward to: CHRISTMAS!! (Always)
Lots of fun stuff this week- Star Wars, girlfriend Christmas dinner, Tuck meeting Santa, family Christmas party- so much!

Milestones: Baby's first big snow! (Today)

How far along27 weeks!
(This is what pictures look like when you're too tired to care. Haha)

Maternity clothes: I have a nice mixture of non-maternity and maternity going on. I re wear a lot of the same stuff quite often. Haha.

Stretch marks: I don't think so!

Sleep: Sleep is definitely getting challenging. I usually take a Benedryl at night to help me fall asleep. But once I wake up to use the bathroom it's usually tossing and turning from thereon out. Laying on one side for too long is getting pretty uncomfortable now.

Best moment this week: Lots of fun stuff happened this week!
Wednesday I got to go to fashion place mall Cheesecake Factory for our annual girlfriend christmas get together. We try and do something with each other every year and this year we decided dinner was a good idea. And it was definitely a good choice. I'm still dreaming about my pasta and cheesecake :)
We went to Star Wars (Taylor and I) and it was soooo good. We are super glad my mom was able to tend because we bought our tickets a few months ago. It took a long time to get to the theater in West Jordan and I was pretty nauseous when we sat down (five minutes before it started-it's a miracle we found two seats together) and so I had to leave the theater for a few minutes or so. And we had to skip dinner because it was taking so long to get there- but luckily In n Out was right by the theater and I got my fill after the movie :)
We also went on a group date with Tess, Grey, Luke and Laura and Micheal. We went to the seven peaks North Pole event that's been going on for a little while. It was fun but veryyyyy cold. My favorite part was hot chocolate afterwards :)
Saturday we went to Ikea to get a dresser that was on sale for the new baby's room and then we went to a Curtis family Christmas party! It was a lot of fun to see everyone. We were so tired by the time we were coming home and tuck hadn't had a nap and fell asleep in the car and then had a long nap after that.
Sunday I was feeling sick so I came home after the first hour of church but later on I was able to make Christmas treats for some neighbors and then that night we went to my mom's place to have "Christmas" and a yummy dinner. It was so much fun! I love christmas time.

Worst moment this week: Silly me has waited until the last minute to finish everything I need to get done. Like the Christmas treats, the gift wrapping and even the gift buying! (I still need to get a couple more things). Add that to the million things running through my brain that I'm trying not to forget and Im a little stressed. Ha. All this stuff and all I want to do is take a nap- Im exhausted! Everything will be done by tomorrow though....hopefully- cause that's when we're leaving!

Movement:  The once-gentle taps and kicks are now full force punches, jabs and rolls. I can't tell what position he is in either! I feel like he's moved his position every other day. He is often hitting me in the bladder though, so that could maybe mean feet down- guess we will find out in a couple weeks!

Food cravings: Still craving hot chocolate for breakfast. And I loveeeee Silk chocolate soy milk. So yummy. And ice cold water. I guess I have a drink pattern going on here. Also we had baked potatoes at dinner with my mom last night and it was amazing. I wanted like three more! Ha.

Aversions: Not too much. Still don't eat yogurt but I probably could and it wouldn't bother me too much.

Queasy/Sick: A couple days where I was nauseous for a bit or had a headache.

Other Symptoms: Heartburn- Zantac is take religiously every night and sometimes in the morning and it helps a ton. My back and hips and sides have started hurting too.

Gender: BOY!

Labor signs: Nope!

Belly button - in or out? So close to being all the way flat.

What I miss: Having neighbors without (barking) dogs.

What I am looking forward to: CHRISTMAS!! (IT'S THIS WEEK!!)
I'm excited to get Taylor to myself for a whole week almost and to spend lots of time with family :) And its Tuck's first big christmas!

Milestones: Apparently baby has reached a big viability milestone! If (heaven forbid) he was born now, he has about a 95% chance of survival. I like those odds, but let's pray he stays in for much longer. :)

08 December 2015

25 weeks!

How far along25 weeks! Less than 14 to go!
Selfie mirror-pics will have to do this week :)

Maternity clothes: All the time! If I'm not in sweatpants, that is! I also got my maternity dresses in the mail! I found two very pretty ones during cyber Monday, so thankfully they were cheap! :)

Stretch marks: Not yet!

Sleep: Getting quite a bit more uncomfortable. I wake up on my back a lot and have to move to my side. But then sleeping on my side too long hurts my hips. It's a never ending cycle!

Best moment this week: It's December! That means Christmas, my favorite holiday, is this month! It's been fun (and slightly stressful with a busy, curious toddler) to decorate!

Worst moment this week: Shopping for Christmas is stressful! Maybe because we went on the busiest day of the week. It was a mad house and we were exhausted by the end of it. But it's still very fun!

Movement:  This babe is a crazy wild baby! He is always moving I feel like! I love love it but lately I'm feeling like he needs to take a chill pill so I can take a nap! Haha.

Food cravings: Cottage cheese. Ooh and limited edition fudge covered Ritz. Soooo yummy.

Aversions: Don't love bananas. And the smell of a fresh orange Tay just ate is making me a little queasy!

Queasy/Sick: I feel pretty congested most days when I wake up. That's not the funnest but I haven't been feeling bad unless I don't eat.

Other Symptoms: Heartburn has reared its ugly head! Ah. Time to stock up on the Zantac!

Gender: BOY!

Labor signs: Nope!

Belly button - in or out? Ever flattening!

What I miss: A heartburn-free life.

What I am looking forward to: CHRISTMAS!! (Always)
Reaching the third trimester!

Milestones: Baby's first Christmas shopping adventure!

My doctors appointments today went really well. My A1C is still low at 6.2 and my blood pressure and other vitals were good as well. My blood sugars are ever-rising as the resistance hits in full force. It's frustrating but ultimately I think I am just going to change everything we are eating and hopefully that will help. We loveeee our bread and carbs though so we will definitely have them, just less than normal ;)
My OB seems positive and answered all my questions really well. Towards the end, starting around 32 weeks, I will have "serial ultrasounds" as he put it. There will be no way for this baby to sneakily get too big too fast- as he says, we will see it coming and be able to watch it ever closely. I want to avoid a C-section in doing whatever I can. The reason being, is if I have a C-section, the chances of me being able to attempt a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) are slim to none. Being diabetic, I am not a good candidate. But as my doctor said, I have already proven I can deliver an 8 pound baby and my body can handle it, so they are optimistic. Lots of prayers will be said in behalf of a normal delivery, and ultimately a healthy baby is all we are worried about- no matter how he gets here! Prayers would be appreciated on our babe's and mine behalf. :)

30 November 2015

6 months pregnant!

 How far along24 weeks!

Maternity clothes: definitely. If I go out, I'm usually wearing my maternity jeans (which are still too big and tend to fall off or sag) or leggings. Ha. And because it's freezing, I've luckily been able to get by with most of my sweaters.

Stretch marks: No new ones that I've noticed.

Sleep: Can't complain! There have been a couple nights where I have only woken up once and one night where I didn't at all!

Best moment this week: I got to have Taylor for a whole five days straight for thanksgiving break! We felt spoiled getting to have him here every day and I sure did appreciate all his help with Tuck especially when I was sick. And I know that he loved getting to spend lots of time with his boy, too!
I have loved having a piano in our home! I posted that we found one, and we finally got it delivered! It's beautiful. It needs a tune and a repaid or two but it still works wonderfully and I love getting to play!

Worst moment this week: Since I was sick last week, I missed the update for the previous week. A couple of "trying" things have happened. First, last week- beginning Monday, I was sick until the day after Thanksgiving! And I didn't have an appetite or any energy on thanksgiving and so I couldn't help make anything besides the pie and I could hardly eat anything! So sad. But I woke up the next day and felt much better and was able to enjoy leftovers :)
And two- the previous week we purchased a puppy! We named him Moe and he was a sweet, cuddly goldendoodle. We made the decision to get a puppy so quickly that we didn't get much time to rationally think about it. I knew having a puppy would be hard, but maybe I overestimated how much I could mentally handle. He was such a good puppy- but obviously, still a puppy. The short time that we had him, I lost a lot of sleep and was anxious about how I was going to be able to keep it up when I needed to be taking care of my health first and foremost. So last Monday, after a 4:30 AM wake up call that resulted in a cute puppy not wanting to go back to sleep, I had a very tearful discussion about how I felt like we needed to find him a new home. Taylor told me to take the morning or day or whatever I needed to think about it and then decide. I was super emotional all morning (love those hormones) and decided to put up a classified ad on KSL. Not even three hours later, the sweetest woman called and asked me if he was still available. At this point i hadn't really told Taylor my decision and so I told the woman Id speak with my husband and text her back. Taylor was sad, and I was too, but we decided it was the best option. I met with her twice that day. She came over in the early afternoon and was instantly in love with Moe. And she told me she wanted to buy him and give him to her teenage son because he'd always wanted a dog. She was so sweet. And she came back later after her son got out of school so he could meet him- and he loved him too. And when she brought her payment to me, she brought me a basket of oranges because she felt like she needed to give me something. I mean, seriously?? So nice. We arranged for Moe to be picked up that night after Taylor got home. He was able to say goodbye and when we finally handed him off, I asked her if I could hug her and then got a little emotional and she just was so nice about it. I feel better every day about him going to live with this sweet family and I know he will be loved and taken care of. We only had him a little while but we sure loved him! Now we will be waiting a veryyyyyy long time before we have another dog. And when we do we will be ready for it!

Movement:  This baby never stops moving! I feel like I am always feeling a little something- or a big something, unless I'm walking around. I love it!

Food cravings: Bread. And cottage cheese. And ice cold water.

Aversions: Nothing that I can think of.

Queasy/Sick: I was sick most of the week and felt really terrible. I did a lot of resting and ultimately that's what helped!

Other Symptoms: Growing belly- holy cow! Dry skin. Tired.

Gender: BOY!

Labor signs: Nope!

Belly button - in or out? Getting realllllly shallow!

What I miss: Thanksgiving break when Tay was home every day!

What I am looking forward to: CHRISTMAS!!
I have a follow up appointment in one week!

Milestones: Baby's first Thanksgiving!

16 November 2015

22 weeks!

How far along22 weeks!

Maternity clothes: Yep! I've worn my fave new maternity shirt a few times now already. Ha. Oops. :)

Stretch marks: I don't think so. I've been keeping up with moisturizing so I'm sure that's helping!

Sleep: Not bad this week! Just the occasional bathroom break in the night. We had a couple of nights that were really late...gotta stop doing that!

Best moment this week: We found a piano for our home! It needs a little work (tuning and a couple of keys are damaged) but everything will great and we got an awesome deal! I'm so excited to be able to play whenever I want and teach our kids!
We also got to hang out with friends on Saturday and that was a lot of fun! We watched the BYU game and had a homemade meal at Tessa and Grey's house! I got to see my girlfriends and the babies got to play and all the boys got to chat about guns and motorcycles....or something. Ha.

Worst moment this week: I just struggled getting over this sickness that's been hanging around for over a week. But luckily towards the end of the week I felt mostly better! And I'm feeling pretty good now!
Figuring out the insulin changes has been really hard as well.

Movement: I love love love feeling this boys kicks and rolls! It's so great! He has already flipped completely that I know of. Last week at my ultrasound he was head up and face down and today he was head down and facing one of my sides! I had a feeling that he had moved because I was feeling less little kicks by my bladder. Haha.

Food cravings: Hot chocolate! Haha. And tomato sandwiches still. And babybell cheese and triscuits. We had some yummy guacamole at Tess' on Saturday and that's been sounding really good too.

Aversions: Nothing really! I just naturally stay away from yogurt.

Queasy/Sick: Feeling mostly normal! Occasionally I get nauseous if I haven't had something substantial to eat.

Other Symptoms: Tired. Some Braxton Hicks. Dry skin.

Gender: BOY!

Labor signs: Nope!

Belly button - in or out? An ever-flattening innie!

What I miss: My little baby. He is getting so big and grown up!

What I am looking forward to: CHRISTMAS!! It's my favorite :) But sooner than that, we are going to Glenwood this weekend and Thanksgiving is next week!

Milestones: First 3D ultrasound picture!

Today I had an ultrasound with Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) and is was great! The tech doing the first part of the appointment was great and gave us so many pictures! Little buddy was being stubborn and she wanted to give me a good profile view but he wasn't moving. So she tried for a few minutes and finally got him to move for a perfect profile view and even in 3D too! And it was right when Taylor walked in so he didn't miss it!

The Perinatologist was so positive and had nothing but good things to say. She said from what she can tell, his heart and spine (biggest causes for concern in a Diabetic mother) look perfectly normal! That is the best news. He's measuring right on track. She said that my diabetes control is right where it needs to be and if I can keep it there, she is very optimistic I could carry very close to 39 weeks! Even with the prior preeclampsia, she said that she isn't super worried. Apparently since its been less than five years since I had a baby last, my vessels have completely healed/changed and that makes for a good outcome in that area.

It felt good to have reassurance that I'm doing my part. Both Taylor and I left very happy! We are so excited about our next little buddy!

21 weeks!

How far along21 weeks!

Total Weight Gain/LossAbout ten pounds at this point. Gonna take this question off soon...haha.

Maternity clothes: Yes, finally! This weekend I wanted to go try on some maternity jeans. My jeans still fit but due to the growing size of my tummy, the button part sits lower and I don't have maternity shirts and so I didn't want the problem of being able to see my belly under my shirts! So we were going to go to H&M to get some, but stopped by Motherhood Maternity first. I found some jean leggings (they're just stretchy but look just like jeans!) and they are soooo comfy! And cute! I was actually surprised I liked them! And we found some sweaters/shirts, too! Taylor is so sweet and complimented me on everything. It's amazing the difference in wearing clothes that are made for the body you have! Haha, DUH! I'm excited to wear the new stuff!

Stretch marks: I don't think so, but I am getting itchy sides and have to start putting on moisturizer or I'm worried I'll make matters worse!

Sleep: Aggh. Terrible this week. Saturday I woke up at 5:15 and couldn't go back to sleep. I was exhausted. I might have cried. Haha. And I've been sick and that's made sleeping really difficult.

Best moment this week: This week has been rough because I've been sick all week. But Saturday I thought I was maybe better and we had a fun day running errands and being together.

Worst moment this week:  So sick allll week. It's progressed through different (all not fun) stages. I had this same cruddy sickness when I was pregnant with Tuck during the morning sickness stint. Let's just say, without giving detail, it was extremely unpleasant. So it's basically been that same thing. Luckily I see my OB tomorrow and I'm going to ask if they can give me a z-pack or something to help because I am desperate.

Movement: I have been feeling tons! He's moving right now actually! I could stay up forever and feel these movements. I've even been able to see a few small ones! This boy tends to be more active at night I've noticed.

Food cravings: I have been wanting veggies like crazy. Mostly the frozen kind you cook. I ate a bowl of peas with a little butter and pepper with my lunch a few times this week. So yummy. And I've had an open faces tomato toast sandwich for lunch almost every day. Delish!

Aversions: Not much if anything. Still don't really eat yogurt.

Queasy/Sick: Sunday I actually felt pretty nauseous on top of being sick.

Other Symptoms: Forgetfulness is ever constant. Fatigue.

Gender: BOY!

Labor signs: Nope!

Belly button - in or out? In. But stretching out!

What I miss: Being not sick.

What I am looking forward to: Ultrasound again next week!!

Milestones: First pair of maternity jeans (this pregnancy)!
How cute is he?!

At my appointment today, everything looked great! Baby boy is measuring exactly 21 weeks which is perfect. Apparently, however, my uterus is humongous. Hah. She pointed to where the baby's head is and then the top of my uterus and it is right in the middle of my stomach! Wayyyy high. Usually it would be around an inch or so above the belly button but I guess mine is a few inches higher. So that's why I have felt like I've exploded the last couple weeks. So baby is right on track but my fundal height (inches of your belly) is 2 weeks ahead. Luckily the baby will catch up with the size of my uterus and it doesn't have much space to get taller but it definitely will keep growing!

Tomorrow is my endocrinologist appointment so I'm hoping all that goes well! I have finally started to hit the insulin resistance and that has been rough. It's always a guessing game and I'm just trying to eat as healthy as possible and stay on top of it!

Pray for baby and I to stay healthy!

Until next week :)

02 November 2015

5 months pregnant!

How far along20 weeks!

Total Weight Gain/LossI haven't checked but hopefully not more than last time!

Maternity clothes: Not yet. Regular shirts are starting to get tight on my belly though.

Stretch marks: Hopefully not!

Sleep: Decent! Minus the waking up every so often to go to the bathroom or switch sides.

Best moment this week: Halloween was pretty fun! It was Tuck's first year trick or treating. We went to a nursing home with our buddies Luke and Tess and Grey for the boys to walk around and then that night we went to Grey's parents' neighborhood in American Fork to trick or treat. The boys were shy at first but then started helping themselves to as much candy as they could get their hands on! Tucker wanted to go into people's houses and get their dogs, too! He was worn out by the end of it all and slept until 8:40 on Sunday (actually 9:40 because of daylight savings!! Hallelujah.)
We also had some fun play dates with Luke and Tess this week and got to see family and friends and that is always great!

Worst moment this week: I got some kinda nasty sicky feeling from Taylor and was not feeling good on Sunday. Sore throat and a headache make it hard to sit through three hours of church so I ended up attending Sacrament meeting and then coming home. Taylor actually brought Tuck home after second hour so I was here while he napped and Taylor went back for third hour.
Oh! And we bought SO MUCH halloween candy for trick or treaters and hardly got any!! Sooo much leftover candy what am I gonna do?? Haha

Movement: I felt some pretty big movements this week! I laid in bed before falling asleep one night for a good twenty minutes just feeling this baby move around like crazy. I felt the first movements with my hand! That's always so fun. Soon I'll be able to see them and that's even more exciting! And Taylor was able to feel some movements too! :)

Food cravings: I saw the chocolate Soy milk when we were grocery shopping and had to have it. It's yummy. Also, babybell cheese and wheat thin/triskets is really satisfying right now too! I have a toasted, open-face tomato sandwich almost every day. The fresh tomato with salt and lots of pepper and a little miracle whip on the bread is the best. And I have been wanting corn a lot, too

Aversions: It has been yogurt. But I got some chobani yogurt tubes and froze them and so we will see if that is good. I've had them like that at my in laws house and it's super good!

Queasy/Sick: Feeling pretty good!

Other Symptoms: This belly is growing! It's popped quite a bit in the last week or so!

Gender: BOY!

Labor signs: Nope! But I have been getting some Braxton Hicks. I looked it up and it's possible for them to start this early or even earlier in pregnancy. But you usually don't feel them till about now. I can only really feel them if I am lying on my back, too.

Belly button - in or out? In. But getting shallower!

What I miss: Man I really want some sushi.

What I am looking forward to: Next ultrasound is in a week!

Milestones: Five months along- More than half way there!

Other stuff-
I am so excited to start decorating for Christmas. Ha! Taylor probably won't let us until after thanksgiving but I will keep asking just in case. This time of year is my favorite and I am so excited to have Tucker experience Christmas for the first real time (he was so little last year). We've already been thinking about what we should get and traditions to start and I am so excited to be with family and have the best holiday!

Over the thanksgiving holiday we are planning on putting the nursery together (painting, organizing, etc) and I can't wait!

My best friend Tessa wants to plan a baby shower for me sometime in February and I am excited about that because I never got to have a baby shower with Tuck!

I have been doing a lot of research on natural childbirth and might actually be considering it. Am I crazy? Probably. Haha. My mother in law, Julie, had her last baby Jane using the Bradley Method and that is one method, along with hypnobirthing, that I've been hearing lots of great things about! I will probably buy some books to read and prepare myself but not get tooooo invested in it, just in case I can't handle it ;)

This pregnancy is flying by and I'm not mad about that! I feel like we're going to have a baby here before we know it!
